On August 16, 2025, the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall at the University of Lagos transformed into a dazzling stage of imagination, rhythm, and color. The Faculty of Creative Arts hosted its annual Costume & Makeup Carnival, and this year, it was more than just a showcase, it was a celebration of identity, talent, and culture.
Students took the audience on a breathtaking journey through time and tradition. There were elaborate costumes representing nations from across the globe, dramatic portrayals of gods and goddesses, creative interpretations of the five natural elements, and striking depictions of civilizations that shaped history. With makeup artistry that turned ordinary faces into living works of art, the carnival felt like a grand stage play, only this time performed by an entire faculty.
Peeka Joins the Celebration
For us at Peeka, the carnival wasn’t just another event to sponsor, it was a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with students, to support their creativity, and to show that we are more than just a delivery platform.
We wanted to do more than place a logo on the stage backdrop. Our goal was simple: to connect with students in a meaningful way. That’s why we rolled out a unique offer, every student who signed up on Peeka during the event received instant wallet funding to get them started on their journey with us. It wasn’t just a bonus; it was a welcome gift, a way of saying “You’re part of the Peeka family now.”
The Target and the Turnout
From the energy in the hall, it was clear that the carnival wasn’t only about costumes and makeup, it was about community. Our target was to engage over 1,000 students at the event, creating a ripple effect that would extend far beyond a single night.
And the turnout spoke for itself. Hundreds of eager faces crowded our stand, curious about how Peeka could fit into their everyday lives. Many signed up on the spot, excited to test out the platform with their welcome credit. For them, Peeka wasn’t just another app, it was a student-friendly delivery solution built to meet their needs right where they are: on campus, living busy, vibrant lives.
The Impact Beyond Numbers
What mattered most wasn’t just the sign-ups, it was the reception. Students welcomed us warmly, often stopping to share stories of their daily struggles with food, errands, and deliveries. Faculty members appreciated the gesture, recognizing Peeka as a brand that not only talks about supporting young people but also shows up to prove it.
The carnival amplified awareness of Peeka across the UNILAG community, positioning us as a brand that truly understands students, their pace, their creativity, and their lifestyle. More importantly, it fostered goodwill and trust, the kind that goes beyond transactions and builds lasting connections.
Why This Matters for Peeka
For Peeka, this sponsorship was a step forward in our campus growth strategy, but it was also a reminder of why we do what we do. Delivery is not just about moving goods from one place to another; it’s about enabling lifestyles, creating convenience, and supporting the communities we serve.
By investing in creativity and student culture, we are investing in the future. The Costume & Makeup Carnival showed us that when young people are given a platform to shine, they don’t just entertain, they inspire. And when Peeka stands with them, we don’t just grow our brand, we grow with them.
This was not just a carnival. It was the beginning of deeper relationships, louder conversations, and stronger connections between Peeka and the next generation of dreamers, doers, and creatives.
